EFS is available immediately in the US East (Northern Virginia), US West (Oregon), and E.Ü. (Ireland) regions. AWS said it will expand to other geographical areas "in the coming months", but gave no details. Its price is 30 cents per GB per month, although customers in its first year in AWS receive up to five GB open month.
"Quite expensive, so companies with a large amount of data - for example, a petabyte or more - may choose to stay in place," observed Lecat.
